1281     Acting: Stage and Screen     .5 Credit     Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

Performing Arts & Communications Career Academy Course (optional). Students will study techniques of acting and performance for the stage and film. They will learn videography and how to put film together to create a media composition for broadcast or the internet. This class will also teach script writing and students will write their own a short play or movie to be produced during the course. 

1284     Modern Theatre History      .5 Credits     Grades 9, 10, 11, 12

(Pending CITS Course) Performing Arts & Communication Career Academy Course (optional). This course will explore the contribution of diverse cultures to the performing arts such as African American, Latino, Jewish, American Indian, and Asian cultures and how they influenced modern theatre. The students will come to understand that other cultures besides Western culture had a vast impact on the arts and a wealth of knowledge and information has been passed down through their storytelling. As well as theatre, dance and other dramatic storytelling methods of different cultures will be explored. The class will also cultivate the humanities as an interest area, encouraging the students to seek a well-rounded educational experience.

Performing Arts & Communication Career Academy Course (optional). Theatre History explores the role of theatre throughout western history by looking at different play performances and how they evolved over time.  It will also explore playwrighting, the elements of drama, and acting.  The students will be introduced to theatre's impact on culture and society. The class will culminate in demonstrating their skills in executing a short play performance. In doing so, the students will understand that theatre has many aspects they can explore as a career, including the arts, trade careers, engineering, design, business, marketing, producing, and beyond.  The class will also cultivate the humanities as an interest area, encouraging the students to seek a well-rounded educational experience.

1288       Theatre: Introduction to Stagecraft             .5 credits      Grade 9, 10, 11, 12


(Pending CITS Course) Performing Arts & Communication Course (optional).  Stagecraft class explores modern set-building, develops knowledge of sound and lighting equipment properties, design skills, costuming, make-up, production budgets and material used to produce a realized production.  Students will be introduced to the art of Stage Managements.  During this Stagecraft course the students will put together a short play with all the elements they have learned during the course. The class will also cultivate the humanities as an interest area, encouraging the students to seek a well-rounded educational experience.
