The superintendent shall identify alternative program opportunities to be made available to students, recommend such alternative programs to the school board for approval, and inform students and parents of the availability of such alternative programs.

The superintendent shall, through cooperative efforts with other schools, agencies, and organization, recommend additional or modified alternative educational programs to the school board.

Annual educational summer programming shall be provided when deemed educationally beneficial and financially feasible.  Such programming may present opportunities in enrichment, acceleration, graduation credit make-up and/or remedial instruction for district students, preschool through grade twelve.

The superintendent shall have discretionary authority to develop guidelines and directives to implement school board policy relating to alternative programs.
